Luxurious Moisture Blend for Soft, Radiant Skin

"I've tried many Whipped Tallow Body Butters on Etsy, and they are usually too greasy, don't smell good, or are way overpriced. I tried yours and I am hooked! I will always buy from you!" - Haley Richardson, Oregon, USA
🌿 From Concerned Mom to Natural Skincare Enthusiast: My Journey to Whipped Tallow & Honey Body Butter
As a new mom, I found myself scrutinizing every label on skincare products, especially those I used on my son. Despite growing up with the familiar scents of store-bought lotions, I couldn't ignore the long list of synthetic ingredients and mysterious "fragrances" they contained. I wanted better for my child.
This quest led me down a path of discovery, where I learned about the incredible benefits of natural ingredients:
Tallow: Rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, tallow closely resembles the skin's natural oils, making it an excellent moisturizer that supports skin barrier function. New York Post
Beeswax: Sourced from my own hives, beeswax acts as a natural barrier, locking in moisture while allowing the skin to breathe. Healthline
Shea Butter: Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, shea butter soothes and hydrates the skin, making it ideal for sensitive skin types. Aveeno
Jojoba Oil: This oil mimics the skin's natural sebum, providing balanced hydration without clogging pores. Byrdie
Raw Honey: A natural humectant, honey attracts moisture to the skin and has antibacterial properties that promote healing.
After numerous trials (and a few sticky situations), I perfected a recipe that my family and I fell in love with. We now use this whipped tallow and honey body butter daily, reveling in its rich texture and the way it leaves our skin feeling soft, supple, and nourished.
🛠 What You’ll Need:
✨ Ingredients:
Raw local honey
(Optional) vitamin E oil
Double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a saucepan
Amber Glass Jars or Metal Tins for storage
✨ Recipe:
1/2 cup grass-fed tallow
I render my own, but if you don't have access to any locally, here's a great alternative: Sulu Organics Grass Fed Beef Tallow
1 tablespoon organic shea butter
1 tablespoon organic jojoba oil
This is the bulk amount I buy, but there are smaller ones if you are just doing small batches.
1 tablespoon local beeswax
If you can get it local, do that.
If you don't want to order from us with the link above, here are some organic yellow beeswax pellets
1/2 tablespoon raw local honey
5–10 drops each of Frankincense and Lavender essential oils
(Optional) 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil – for extended shelf life and added skin benefits.
🧰 Tools Needed:
Double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a saucepan
This is the exact one I use for small batches and made to order body butters: https://amzn.to/42O1tin
Hand or stand mixer
Some people use their Kitchenaid, but it can get messy and an electric hand mixer works just fine.
Clean amber glass jars or metal tins for storage
🧴 Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Melt the Base Ingredients
In your double boiler, combine the tallow, shea butter, jojoba oil, and beeswax. Gently heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until all ingredients are fully melted. Be cautious not to overheat to preserve the beneficial properties of the ingredients.
2. Incorporate Honey and Optional Add-ins
Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Once it's warm but not hot, stir in the raw honey, essential oils, and vitamin E oil if using. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
3. Cool the Mixture
Place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 20–30 minutes, or until the mixture begins to solidify but is not completely hard. It should have a soft, scoopable consistency.
4. Whip to Perfection
Using your hand or stand mixer, whip the semi-solid mixture on high speed for 5–10 minutes, or until it becomes light and fluffy. This process incorporates air, giving the body butter a whipped, luxurious texture.
5. Transfer and Store
Spoon the whipped body butter into clean glass jars or tins. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For best results, use within 6 months.
🌿 Tips for Success
Honey Consistency: Raw honey can sometimes cause a slightly sticky texture. If you prefer a lighter feel, reduce the honey to 1 teaspoon or whip the butter longer for a fluffier consistency.
Essential Oils: Frankincense and Lavender not only provide a pleasant aroma but also offer skin-soothing properties. Adjust the quantity to your preference, but avoid exceeding 20 drops total to prevent skin irritation.
Shelf Life: Adding vitamin E oil can help extend the shelf life of your body butter by preventing oxidation.
